In the function documentation it is stated that montage should be only applied to eeg. Yet, it is convenient to have functionality to also apply it to MEG-data. As such, the function does not prohibit it. I suggest to change the functionality, in that the montage is also applied to the grad-structure in the presence of data in the input.
