it is not clear how the + and - button are supposed to work. Also not clear from lower level code, since ft_sourceplot->ft_plot_slice, whereas ft_plot_ortho mentions it as well and does some scaling/clipping independent of ft_plot_slice. does the "c" in clim mean - contrast limits? - color limits? - clipping limits?

ft_volumerealign and ft_sourceplot should have a consistent way of visualising the anatomy with user-configurable clipping/contrast.
