On matlab 2008a (the oldest one to consider) >> which isequalwithequalnans built-in (/opt/matlab2008a/toolbox/matlab/elmat/isequalwithequalnans) On matlab2012a (the newest we have installed) >> which isequalwithequalnans.m /opt/matlab2012a/toolbox/matlab/elmat/isequalwithequalnans.m >> which isequaln built-in (/opt/matlab2012a/toolbox/matlab/elmat/isequaln) The help suggests that they have the same functionality, therefore isequalwithequalnans is to be prefered,

Oh, I should also have mentioned that on 2008a >> which isequaln 'isequaln' not found. ------------- I did not find any use of isequaln, so guess we are fine. roboos@mentat001> grep isequaln *.m roboos@mentat001> grep isequaln */*.m roboos@mentat001> grep isequaln */*/*.m roboos@mentat001> grep isequaln */*/*/*.m all return nothing.

Also, on R2011b (win64): >> which isequaln 'isequaln' not found. so I guess isequaln is only available in >= R2012a.
